Did you know?
The more you sweat, the more attention you'll get from unwelcomed mosquitoes. Why? Because they are drawn to the smell of lactic acid, a substance your body emits when you perspire.
Mosquitoes live near and breed in still water, so the closer you live to standing water, the more likely you are to encounter them.
If you're fishing, camping or hiking, be on the lookout. Heavily wooded areas, ponds and lakes are often a breeding ground for annoying mosquitoes.
Those pesky insects may be attracted to fruity and floral fragrances. To help avoid them, skip scented soaps, lotions, perfumes and hair products if you are heading outside.
When you fire up the grill, you should probably expect a few uninvited guests to join you.
When it's humid and warm, you can expect mosquitoes to appear. They can thrive in these types of climates.

Mosquitoes may be drawn to people with a larger body frame because they give off more body heat and lactic acid (a substance your body emits when you perspire), two mosquito attractants.

Wear light-colored clothing because insects are actually more attracted to dark colors.

Believe it or not, just breathing can attract mosquitoes. They are drawn to carbon dioxide, which you release when you breathe.
